Monday July 9 Port Townsend to Port Angeles

We departed Port Townsend today about 8 am and arrived at Port Angeles about 4pm after a long bumpy ride motoring against the wind.

We met TR at Port Angeles and decided to ride the tide that night at 10 pm toward Neah Bay after getting diesel via jerry cans and a stop at the hardware store.

We piloted through the night via radar and bright moon. It was a long very rocky ride due to the swell hitting us at a 45 degree angle, but calmed by morning and we arrived about 10 am.   There were ships in the shipping lane but we stayed well clear hugging the south shore of the straights of Juan De Fuca (also known as "I wanna puka"). I decided to start a queasy scale like a pain scale. Rhys and I were about a 4/10 on the queasy scale. Not bad but not fun. The snack bars from Marlyn were great while things were rough.  Through the night we kept a 3 hour watch shift rotation, but Rhys and TR got us going initially during the rough stuff while I got some rest.
